Just stay at 2nd place (about 100~300 Medals lower that the 1st). Track heavy Gem users or other competitors that are also using this method. Try to maintain your Tournament Leaderboard Rank to 1, 2 or 3 because the higher your ranks is, the better, coz it's easier and you'll consume less Food/Gems to steal the top position.
